Amanda was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in Whitby, Ontario. She came to Ottawa in 2016 to start her journey in the Veterinary Technician Program at Algonquin College, and she has been here ever since. She chose this field because she’s loved being around animals her entire life, and she knew the only thing she would truly enjoy in her lifetime was to work with them. She also loves the hustle and bustle of the field & the rewarding feeling you get once the day is done. She worked at the Humane Society of Durham Region right out of school, and that’s when she knew that this was the right field for her. During her free time, she enjoys watching playing video games, watching Youtube, and relaxing with her cat Swift, who she adopted from the OHS. She also grew up with a golden retriever named Lucky, and he was her best friend. “Nothing beats unconditional love from your pets” , Amanda said. She also enjoys being outdoors and keeping busy. Back in Whitby, she horseback rode every week, as that was her passion. She hopes to continue horseback riding again soon.
